Since I got some good replies in my first ‘topic’, I am back with new release from group FNT, guess what, again Metal, not the Thrash style this time! Anyway, I must say I’ve not heard of this group that much, except few songs I heard while ago. As I am not metal lover, you decide how good is this album!

The musical style of COMMUNIC is rich in both emotional depth and musical
broadness and includes many elements from various metal genres. Catchy vocal
melodies, thrilling bass and guitar lines colliding with power, thrash,
progressive and a bit of doom and groovy metal. COMMUNIC consists of highly
skilled musicians that deliver quality metal with variety and originality.

The music has a progressive touch in some experimental form, yet easy to
listen to – quite moody, mellow and emotional, and a mix of influences from
the 80s and 90s metal scene, but most of all its a mix of the different
approach each member of the band has on the music, thus giving it the unique
sound and feeling, that makes it hard for fans and media to compare COMMUNIC
to just one other band.

I am a huge fan of Outlaw Country and the style that originated from the mid 70s. Steve Earle was one of the forefathers of that movement, along with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristopherson, Willie Nelson, and others. That’s why this seems absolutely awesome. It’s one of his finest albums, remastered, with an entire new disc of live material added, and thanks to XXL, we get it… a little after it hit store shelves, but it’s free, so that’s going for us.

Steve Earle (born Stephen Fain Earle January 17, 1955) is an American singer-songwriter, well known for his rock and country music, as well as for his many political views. He is also a published writer, a political activist and has written and directed a play. In his early career, he was seen as a savior of country music and labeled by some as the “new Bruce Springsteen.” In the later part of his career, after troubles with the law and drug addiction and due to his uncompromising viewpoints, he has become known as “the hardcore troubadour”.

The Laurel Collective are a newer indie band from London. They haven’t really made a name for themselves, although they seem to have a decent amount of buzz. Their sound is, from what I have heard, very unique, and they definitely seem to have a bright future. Thanks to TLC, we have this album before it goes to retail next week.

the Laurel Collective are a genre trashing 6 piece who marry the soulful vocals of Martin Sakutu with some percussion driven, rhythmic indie, wistful melodies and co-singer Bob Tollast’s skewed, darkly humorous lyrics. Throw in some dancehall rhythms’ driving bass and a love of vintage synths and you get a formula that’s won them a deal with Double Six Records, an offshoot of Domino, who will release the single Vuitton Blues to worldwide hysteria, shortly followed by the earth shattering mini album, “Feelgood hits of a nuclear winter” out on May 12th.

Wow! Another release from Keith, the last one was when? Last month if I am not wrong, seems the guy got some spirit to music. However, I like some of his songs, but I must say, some of them don’t really sound like Hip-Hop, non the less, I can see that this young man will have great future in music industry.

A native of Long Island, Keith Murray first hooked up with Erick Sermon (of EPMD) in 1994. The two worked together to produce Murray’s debut single, “The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World,” and the song became a hit by the end of the year. After an appearance on Sermon’s album Double or Nothing, Murray released his first album in 1995, and titled it after his hit single. The album was certified gold, and Murray delivered his second set near the end of 1996. It’s a Beautiful Thing followed in 1999. His next album, He’s Keith Murray appeared in 2003 on Def Jam, but he was immediately kicked off the label after he allegedly choked a Def Jam employee. Blount Harvey was formed in the Summer of 2006 based on a concept by Adam, the keyboardist for Dystonic, who started jamming with local skratch musician, JohnBeez and Jared, jazz guitarist. The three of them quickly started working out tracks and soon afterward Jon entered the group, adding his dope trumpet styles to the mix and rounding out Blount Harvey’s unique blend of flavors. During Spring of 2007 Will joined the band on drums and they played under the name ill Clinton for several months. By the summertime Will became an official member of Blount Harvey thus making Blount Harvey and ill Clinton the same band. More recent additions include MC Rudolph Lyrics, vocalist Brittani aka Lady Bri and many other special guests.

Prolyphic & Reanimator – The Ugly Truth (2008)

Fittingly enough, Prolyphic and Reanimator is composed of MC Prolyphic and producer Reanimator. The former being a native of Providence Rhode Island, while the latter hails from Chicago. The got together at the urging of one Sage Francis, who then made the duo the first Rapper/Producer combo signed to his Strange Famous label. With that backstory, if you think Prolyphic and Reanimator are on some Cash Money & Marvelous “rap is fun!” type steez, you either aren’t very bright or just aren’t paying attention.

Prolyphic is an angry young man. Not bring-an-uzi-to-the mall-and-mow-down-fatties angry, but angry enough to vent his way through the majority of the 15 tracks on the album. Luckily for us, that’s a good thing. Done wrong, the angry, loner hip hop fundamentalist viewpoint can result in some painful music that’s serious as a heart attack, but no fun to listen to. That isn’t the case here. Prolyphic has a distinctive voice, and he’s a solid lyricist with a knack for clever choruses, which seems kind of rare in the indie rap spectrum. Pair that with a very talented beatmaker in Reanimator, who knows exactly how to tailor his dark, layered soundscapes to fit his partner’s flow like a glove, and you have yourself a debut album that was worth the three years that it was in the making.

Group Home – Where Back (2008)

Group Home is a hip hop duo, comprised of members Lil’ Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker. They came to prominence as members of the Gang Starr Foundation, along with Gang Starr members DJ Premier and Guru, Big Shug, and Jeru the Damaja and “The Nutcracker”. Lil’ Dap made his rhyming debut on Gang Starr’s 1992 classic Daily Operation on the song “I’m the Man”. Both members appeared on Gang Starr’s critically acclaimed 1994 effort Hard to Earn, on the tracks “Speak Ya Clout” and “Words from the Nutcracker”. In 1995, the group released its debut album, Livin’ Proof. The album was very well received, mainly due to DJ Premier’s advanced production work. Melachi left before its second album A Tear for the Ghetto was released in 1999. Couldn’t find any information about this album. Just check it out if you like real Hiphop, i promise:D.

C.R.A.C. Knuckles – The Piece Talks (2008)

C.R.A.C. is the musical collaboration of producing / emcee Ta’Raach and emcee Blu. C.R.A.C. is an acronym for Collect Respect Anna Check, a name and idealism representing the movement of like-minded musicians, artists, and producers for a structural change in previous stratifications of power and belief systems. The first step in this movement is The Piece Talks, the debut album from C.R.A.C.

Produced by Detroit’s finest, Ta’Raach, the musical landscape is reminiscent to early Bomb Squad productions complimented by the ‘left-field’ humor and sensitivity similar to the work of Prince Paul for De La Soul. Both Ta’Raach and Blu share mic duties, and the chemistry is undeniable. Mainly recorded in just 7 days, the album is more like a musical and spiritual journey that listeners can feel they are a part of.

Tracks such as “Love Don’t” and “Pop Dem Boyz” feature soaring instrumentals teamed with lyrics that invoke much more than what the surface hints to.
